A distilled alcoholic spirit. Whiskey (also spelled "whisky" in much of the English-speaking world outside the United States) is made from fermented grain mash in a process that starts out similarly to the brewing of beer, but it is then distilled and aged in a wooden cask, making the final product very different from beer. It is stored in glass bottles and is served in shot glasses or drinking glasses in small amounts due to its high alcoholic content.
